Captain of Ages - Fusion Wars Game Jam Review

Been a fun 2 weeks for this game jam! Will hopefully not be our last!

For our submission we decided we wanted to do something that was reminiscent of old 1950's -70's sci-fi fantasy films to fit the theme. We also decided it would be our first attempt at randomly generated content by making it a roguelike/roguelite with random room layouts and random enemy spawns and formations. The RNG elements presented itself with lot's of it's own new challenges which made for some great learning experiences though. It was also the first game we have done in Clickteam that requires a load screen while it sets the level and makes sure you can reach the end room and necessary key to unlock it. Platforming Enemy AI was also a bit of a new thing for us as well and was probably the most frustrating part but also taught us a lot. 

Only regret about the decision to make Captain of Ages how we did is that it left most of the time doing bug fixes and not able to play test, play test, play test to assure a fun smooth experience which may also have led to the difficulty being a bit harderer then we had intended. We also were unable to include an end cut scene by the deadline to set the stage for Episode 2 (aside from some in game text). We will likely revisit this game several times with balance updates, possibly new features, and the mentioned end story cut scene. If you have any suggestions or feedback please don't be shy! We will gladly return the favor! After the last couple rigorous days of making sure everything got done we are very tired, however, and will begin reviewing the other submissions starting tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing what everyone else came up with!
